Reader of the Month

June 2013 – Carol Pearson

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

Selena Blake: You had me at Cajun!

Laura DeLuca: Believe it or not, she is a local author (next town over) who writes mostly Young Adult. I first “discovered” her books at a nearby restaurant. I friended her on FB and now belong on her street team. My favorite book of hers is Morrigan. I was finally able to meet her last month!

T.A. Grey: I love reading about shifters. Add hot sex to it and I’m hooked! Her Kategans series was so scrumptious I searched for more books by her and that genre.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

I don’t have ONE favorite. I am VERY partial to the Stormy Weather series. Like I said before, you had me at CAJUN!! J I read the first book and couldn’t wait. I went to Amazon and purchased the remainder of the series.

Favorite paranormal creature?

Favorite paranormal creature? You ask the difficult question. Shifters. I prefer werewolves (the sexier, the better), but I also like cat shifters. To me paranormal is exciting because it is outside of my reality (as I know it)!

May 2013 – Cindy Allers

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?
I actually follow a number of authors, Evangeline Anderson & the Kindred series, Judy Angelo & Anne Melody and their respective Billionaire series, Vivian Arend & her Granite Lake Wolves series, Jennifer Ashley, Bianca D’Arc, Jennifer Blake, Selena Blake, R.E. Butler, Angela Castle, Nicky Charles, Marisa Chenery, Helen Cooper, Bianca D’Arc, Laurann Dohner – I’m hooked on her Species, Zorn & Cyborg series, Eve Langlais, Tina Folsom, Michelle M. Pillow, S.E. Smith & Coreene Callahan. These writers have humor, suspense and hot romance all rolled into an evening (or weekend) escape. I want to be able to read a story and forget that I still need to clean out the litter box and do the dishes, and these people know how to make that happen. They also work the story line, there is a good story line construction up and as I prefer series, they build from each other.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

I’ve read a lot of romance novels/novellas during my lunch break at work. Selena Blake’s books are short enough and the action moves quickly enough for these to be the a great work escape. The first book I read by Selena Blake was The Cajun’s Captive (Stormy Weather, Book One), and it was the hook for me. It also was my favorite of that series. I enjoyed the found again mate, and I mean seriously who doesn’t want to know what happens when the ‘H’ wants to tie the ‘h’ to the bed? I think my favorite part of this story was when they met again, with the ‘h’ falling off the porch onto the soggy ground. I am more apt to choose a book with humorous undertones.

Favorite paranormal creature?
I am still a huge fan of werewolf heros. Not the crazy, mindless ones, but the hot, hunky alpha ones, you know what I’m talking about. I also discovered in the past year or so, that I enjoy futuristic paranorms – especially the Species series from Laurann Dohner. As far as non-wolf shapeshifters, a good Dragon shifter can usually grab my attention.

April 2013 – Ruth Gutscher

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

I am an avid reader & love genres from paranormal to romantic suspense mainly because I love the diversity in characters & storylines; so I have a lot of favorites & to many to list!

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

I was scanning e-books at amazon & saw a free book; it was a “Cajun Werewolf” title & sadly say I can’t remember which one! I clicked on it to see what it was about & had to have it – I got it &read it & I was hooked! –(3)It had all the things I look for in a book – suspense- humor-romance with a bite-& a hot Alpha male!

Favorite paranormal creature?

My favorite paranormal creature would be a Werewolf because to me they are more believable because they are closer to humans and can pass for one easier than say a Vampire.

March 2013 – Danielle Dalton

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

Jayne Krentz (also writings Amanda Quick) I actually only read Mrs. Krentz’s Harmony and Arcane Society novels, which I only discovered a few months ago and thanks to my ereader have ABSORBED all of them.Amanda Quick novels I have been reading since high school, love the historical backround that stories are woven into.

J.D. Robb books are just awesome, when reading one can almost see what our future society is leaning towards, with urban warfare and all. The cases Eve investigates can make the reader become emotional and that is a good thing in my opinion.

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series and J.R. Ward’s Brotherhood series, the men in those two series are sooo HOT and damaged yet are redeemable.

Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalker series, hot military men with paranormal abilities, and I can actually imagine a government agency conducting such experiments.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

My favorite Selena book is Stranded with a Cajun Werewolf, the other Devereux books were great but there was something about Burke from the being that made me want his story told the most and when I finally got to read it I was not disappoined. Like I noted earlier there is something about an emotionally damaged man that appeals to me (don’t tell my husband that). I also like how noble Burke is in his actions.

Favorite paranormal creature?

I prefer werewolves over vampires. I like the idea of a “man” who has a heartbeat and does not rely on blood for substance, blood really grosses me out (thus med school was not on the table for a career). I like a “man” with a built in instinct to protect.

So that is my taste in romance novels in a nutshell.

February 2013 – Lucy Nina

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

Some of my favorite authors include Cynthia Eden, Rebecca Zanetti, Alexandra Ivy, Lara Adrian, JR Ward, and Gena Showalter.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

Your latest, Fangs, Fur, and Mistletoe. It is unique: I think that this story is set in a world that I have not read from any author. In addition, I love the characters and well thought out story line.

Favorite paranormal creature?

I love all but zombies but I can’t help being drawn to vampires.

January 2013 – Zita Rivera

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

I got my first e-reader last April. Prior to having a Kindle my favorite authors were Catherine Coulter (FBI Series), David Baldacci, Iris Johansen, Suzanne Brockmann (Navy Seals), Terry Goodkind (Wizards) and Catherine Anderson.

I like intrigue, suspense, and mystery all blended together, also like Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and can’t forget romance. I can always count on these authors attention to detail and an involved storyline. These authors make you wait for their books and it shows. The stories are fresh and not reminiscent of prior works. Editing problems are never an issue (was an A student in English, I find all the errors in a book).

The kindle has opened accessibility to a world of authors I had not known before. Now my favorite authors besides you are (in no particular order): Shayla Black, Shiloh Walker, J.T. Geissinger, Donna Grant, Kristen Ashley, Lisa Renee Jones, Sylvia Day, Cynthia Eden, Tina Reber, Samantha Towle, Samantha Young, Cherrie Lynn, Belinda Boring, Jill Shalvis, and Elle Aycart. There are just so many authors I like now. It’s driving me crazy! Between the Goodreads and Amazon reviews I seem to find the best writers.

Now what I like also like about these authors is that their imaginations are AWESOME. They push the bounds of possibility in their stories. They make you believe that this could actually be truth of the world, that there are such creatures, that alphas described really do exist. To me a book is an escape. If the author can make me feel that I’ve stepped into the world they wrote then they have done a fantastic job.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

While I thoroughly enjoyed Instructing Adam and Friday Night Delights (funny and steamy) I loved the Cajun Werewolves more but Ready & Willing was AWESOME. The chemistry between Kaden and Ava was electric, literally jumped off the page at you. An alpha male and an alpha female going at it! The storyline flowed like liquid with no pauses so you just kept going. The suspense killed me and I loved it. All the characters were well developed. I like this pack and hope there will be more stories for them.

Favorite paranormal creature?

There is something about shape shifters that just calls to my spirit (wolves, panthers, cougars, dragons). You can’t discount vampires though. They have evolved so much from Anne Rice’s stories which I read long ago. Love it when they are both in a book.

December 2012 – Kandie Saldierna

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?
It’s hard to narrow down a couple of my favorite authors, I have so many. Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb is one of the first ones that comes to mind. I love her ” In Death” series. It has a little of everything. Mystery, suspense, it’s futuristic and of course of few steamy scenes. Charlain Harris is another. Her Sookie Stackhouse series is unbelievable. The imagination that woman has to bring so many paranormal characters together is just awesome. Laura Adrian is another, anyone who hasn’t read her Midnight Breed should check it out!

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

I have read all your Cajun Werewolves series, they are by far my favorite of yours. I mean what’s not to love, it has hot, sexy, cajun men that turn into werewolves and who know how to take care if there women. Doesn’t that pretty much sum up all women’s fantasies ;)

Favorite paranormal creature?

Hmmm. It is hard toss up between vampires and werewolves. I mean they are both so strong and sexy. The thought of a vampire sinking his fangs into you is just, well so erotic. But, the werewolves are so HOT and sensual.

Werewolves. I am a little partial to vampires too, but I love big animals, including men!

April – 2012 Sheryl Dumancas

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

Obviously you are one of my favorites. I absolutely love love love the “Stormy Weather” series as well as your free reads. I also enjoy reading books by Nicky Charles; “Law of the Lycan” series is awesome. Nicky creates characters that you can connect with while the story is being told. Cherise Sinclair’s “ Master of the Shadowlands” series is erotic but also has a good story line and keeps you wanting more with each book. Last but not least is Lauren Dane; ” Witches Knot” series. I love the combination of witches, warlocks, vampires, demons and fairies in her stories and that the heroines are all very powerful witches and it’s not the men who saves day.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

I love everything about André so my favorite book is “Mated to a Cajun Werewolf”. He has all of the traits of a sexy alpha male and has an enormous love for his family. Andre’s book had my emotions going all over the place and I felt like I was in the story with him and I absolutely loved it.

Favorite paranormal creature?

Absolutely hands down the Werewolf!

Your Stormy Weather series hooked me from the very beginning .I also love Shelly Lauernston, Chloe Neil, J.R Ward, there are some many I could go on and on. I love their reading style, each story is different but they all pull me in and keep me wanting more.

January 2012 – Reagan Whitten

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

Some of my favorite authors are you of course!

A few other favorite authors (and this is really hard because I have so many) are Rhyannon Byrd; her Primal Instinct series is awesome! I loved that there were more creatures than the typical werewolves & vampires. I really enjoy Jennifer Estep. Her elemental assassins series is the perfect combo of edge, sex, and murder; with people who can control the elements thrown in.

One other author I’d like to mention is HP Mallory. She isn’t as erotic and you or Rhyannon and isn’t as hard as Ms. Estep but her Jolie Wilkins series caught me from the beginning and I cannot wait for the last 2 books to come out. Other awesome authors I like are Kim Harrison, Kresley Cole, Sydney Croft, Lorissa Ione, Lorelie James, Jodi Redford, Lauren Dane, and Evangeline Anderson.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

french/cajun aspect that you added to your Stormy weather series, I love that you tease us with Kaden and Ava and keeps us constantly wondering if they are ever going to hit the sheets, but I have to say my absolute favorite read by you was Instructing Adam!! Man oh man I wish I had the balls to do something as crazy sexy as Cindy does. I have never thought of customer service reps the same way again!!

Favorite paranormal creature?

I have to say that I don’t really have a favorite paranormal creature. I love all of them.

December 2011 – Danielle Dani Keith

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

My favorite authors are Patricia Briggs, Keri Arthur, Deborah Cooke, Yasmine Galenorn and Selena Blake (of course). All the authors mentioned have really engaging stories. They suck you in from the word go and they write the types of books that you just hate to put down.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

My favorite book of Selena’s is Mated to a Cajun Werewolf. I just love André. He’s a lover with a big heart, but will fight for what he believes in no matter what it costs him. I loved reading about him in the other books, but his book was the icing on the cake for me. The way he treated Juliette through out the whole story was perfect. You couldn’t ask for a better man. I also like her free read Ready & Willing. I can’t wait to get the email that says that she’s put the next chapter up.

Favorite paranormal creature?

Werewolves, though I like shifters of all kinds (dragons, felines, merfolk, etc.), but I always go back to wolves. There’s just something majestic about them.

November 2011 – Gingy Hunter

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

The list is long for favorite authors, but some are: YOU, JR Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Larissa Ione, Kerrelyn Sparks, Shayla Black, Lorelei James, Eliza Gayle – I’ll stop now;) What I love about them? Their ability to throw all my favorite things into the mix. Erotica, romance, danger, kink, humor. Men that are passionate, self-assured, demanding, commanding, compassionate and bad-ass!

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

My favorite book of yours is ‘Bitten In The Bayou”. The whole story just curled my toes. M/F/M is a passion. I have to tell you that I got to go away for the weekend about nine months ago. It was shortly after reading your first books. I was definitely full of myself and in a ‘life is short’ frame of mind. So I decided to seduce one of the cowboys that was training a horse. Whoa!!! Fell into the best thing in my life and occasionally his equally hunky brother falls in with us. Since I don’t have a very efficient filter on my mouth you may have heard the ground shaking! SO I OWE YOU:)) and many, many thanks…

Favorite paranormal creature?

My favorite character is Vishous from BDB. That man (vampire) is smokin’…and the BDSM doesn’t hurt;-), well maybe a little!!!

October 2011 – Nia Shay

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

MaryJanice Davidson, Michele Bardsley, and Dakota Cassidy, because their heroines are awesome, kick-ass ladies with amazing senses of humor. Marjorie Liu and Robin D. Owens, because their characters are so deep and realistic, you feel like you’ve known them your enitre life. Plenty of others, too, but those are the major ones on my can’t-wait-for-the-next-installment list.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

The Cajun’s Captive is my fave, because let’s face it ladies — who among us hasn’t daydreamed about our “crush” guys sweeping us off our feet, however literally? LOL!

Favorite paranormal creature?

I started out loving vampires from the time I was a kid, though honestly they’re getting a little played out even for my tastes. But really, I don’t think there’s a paranormal creature I *don’t* like.

September 2011 – Dawn Pressel

Who are some of your favorite authors and what do you love about them?

Wow, I have several I like James Patterson, Heather Graham, Nicky Charles, Harlan Coben, Lauren Dane, Stephanie Meyer, JK Rowling, Cora Zane, Everly Drummond, just about any Harlequin Blaze author (although some rush the ending like they just need to hurry and tie it all up), Nickolas Sparks, YOU and me (although I am not nearly good enough, I still like to dabble and my friends seem to like them). These are just a few. Why I like them is because of the characters they bring to life and how they bring them to life. Heaven knows I am a sucker for a happy ending ~ which is strange since I like Nicholas Sparks and most of his books end in some sort of tragedy but sometimes tragedy is unavoidable. I always tell people I will read anything but romance, but I find I am moving toward romance/eriotica more and more ~ hope the erotica will keep me a no romance reader.

Do you have a favorite Selena book and if so, which one and why?

Do you have a favorite book of yours? Why? And I like all of your books but if I had to pick just one…I have to pick Stranded with a Cajun Werewolf…Burke passes himself off as a man that could care less about much of anything because of his past (hell we have all been hurt a time or 4 in our lives) but he craves love and companionship beyond a causal romp he just doesn’t know it. As it states in the book he needed to get away from his family that is why he went to the mountain ~ to be alone. They all had someone, he didn’t…he was alone and lonely. Treating Kendall with such casual indifference was a way of pulling back because she was human (or so he thought), in the end he knew it didn’t matter if she was human or not, he loved her and sometimes love is enough to look beyond the differences between 2 people.

I do hope you come out with one more to answer some questions something like an epilogue 5 years later… where are these people 5 years after Marie showed up? what sex is Amanda’s baby? Is that the only baby any of them have? Is Violet still a vampire? Did Kendall move to the bayou? Are Violet, Kendall, Violet and Juliette all married to their men? What exactly did it mean when Marie gave them her immortality? What kind of child hood was it for the boys? You touch on how loveless it was but something had to have happened that drove them from their home, was there just one major event that forced them to leave? And why did the cousins go with them? Did the cousins have the same childhood?

Favorite paranormal creature?

Lord knows I love my Edward (Twilight books) but my favorite paranormal is a werewolf. They are strong, unafraid to love, not unwilling to be hurt…they protect, admire, honor and love their mates with every fiber of their being (and that isn’t just your books, so far it seems to be the pattern for any werewolf book I have read). And they are passionate, sex is uninhibited without restraint and without judgment…they work their ass off to satisfy their partner. What woman wouldn’t want that?

August 2011 – Akra Jhaki Zane Vhenom

Selena says: What to say about Jackie? She’s a force of nature. She’s in love with Kaden. She can always be counted on to join the party, cheer me on, and lift my spirits. It doesn’t hurt that she pushes and prods me to get my next book out, either.

July 2011 – Barbara Jones

Selena says: Twitter can be an intimidating place, especially for an author. It’s hard to squeeze in a thoughtful comment in 140 short characters but despite that, Barbara has become a great twitter friend.I always appreciate her enthusiasm and look forward to her comments and recommendations.

June 2011 – Jessica Garcia

Selena says: Jessica was one of my very first fans. In fact, she’s the first person to go absolutely nuts (in the best possible way, of course) over my book Bitten in the Bayou. I look forward to seeing what she has to say about each and every book and am blessed that she keeps coming back for more.

May 2011 – Jacque Moore Davis

Selena says: Jacque is one of my die-hard cheerleaders. She’s said so. Always enthusiastic and present on my Facebook page, she makes me smile frequently and I’m so thankful to count her as a friend and fan.
