Happy Release Day!
Coming July 9, 2010 – Reclaiming Isis
We have a release date people! The wait for Reclaiming Isis will be short and sweet.
About Reclaiming Isis
Men don’t exist on planet PrimeC and machines are responsible for pleasuring and impregnating women. Isis can’t help but feel as if something is missing. When a poisonous gas warning sounds, she gets lost while rushing to evacuate and finds herself in the arms of a man. Not just any man. Tall. Wide. Dangerously handsome. And he insists that she belongs to him — and his best friend.
Warning: Reclaiming Isis includes hot sex machine lovin’, anal pleasure, a BBW, and two gorgeous men who make her dreams come true.
Character names
Author Christina Dodd asked (via twitter) if it’s important to be able to pronounce character names.
I say yes.
I’ve read books where there was no hope of me prounouncing the characters name and I read the whole book saying “heroine” in my head. This has happened to me more than once.
If I discover a character with a name that isn’t something I’ve come across before I may “misprounounce” it in my head, but at least I have something to call the character.
Right now I’m working on a Sci Fi romance where I completely made up one of the character’s names. I’ve never seen it before and I simply strunge some letters together based on the sounds in my head. The name is Micyah, and it’s pronounced just like it reads… mic – ya. In fact, I did it twice in that book. The Oracle’s name is Zeekia. Have never seen that name either and I just knew I wanted something extoic. It’s also pronounced just as it looks. Zeek – ea
So there’s my take on the subject. Hopefully readers will be able to pronounce my characters names. And I think if there’s any doubt in the author’s mind, a note on the book’s page would be helpful.

The Beauty of Twitter
In case you haven’t noticed, I don’t post a lot. In quantity or frequency…which is why Twitter (and Plurk) are perfect for me. Short, mini posts that act as announcements, musings, or brief comments…I use Twitter mostly for announcements. You can find all my latest news on my twitter page (twitter.com/SelenaBlake). You can stay up to date with me by bookmarking that page or signing up for twitter and “following” me. Then you can follow me around constantly and act all “fan girl” like and I’ll love you forever.
Are you going?
Are you going to Ellora’s Cave’s Romanticon? It’s in October. Lots of authors and cover models are going…not me, but plenty of others. Are you going? What do you think of reader conferences? There’s RT and a few author organized ones. Is that something you’d like to attend if one was close by?
My latest addiction…
Have you seen the show Lie to Me? Yeah, I’m totally addicted, how about you? I mean when the very first episode shows romance novels in a positive light, I mean, yeah! Not to mention it’s totally fascinating! I love these kinds of shows. Wish there were more like them and I had more time to watch them, but alas, life and writing only give way to a certain amount of free time.
And there’s always Bones…
Happy New Year!
I’m so excited about the new year. A time of such wonderful possibilities and hot new books just waiting to be read. Hope you have a safe and happy new year!
