Thought you might enjoy a peek at the research for my current work in progress. Who knew a yacht could be sexy? Just imagine an erotic romance novel set aboard this baby.

Since I’m still working on Burke’s book and I know so many of you are waiting (rather impatiently, *VBG*) I thought I’d give you a little taste to tide you over.
Burke, as you’ve no doubt guessed, is a contradiction. He’s both the strong silent type and the laid back, easy going kid brother. Confused yet? He’s also tall. Really tall. And really built. He has a quiet calm about him that I find fascinating.
I see him as sort of a tall, built Jared Leto. Eyes that will melt a woman on impact. A fierce need to protect and take responsibility…but he’s fighting those urges. You’ll find out why later. But without further ado, here he is. Um, please, no drooling on the blog. Thanks.

Author Christina Dodd asked (via twitter) if it’s important to be able to pronounce character names.
I say yes.
I’ve read books where there was no hope of me prounouncing the characters name and I read the whole book saying “heroine” in my head. This has happened to me more than once.
If I discover a character with a name that isn’t something I’ve come across before I may “misprounounce” it in my head, but at least I have something to call the character.
Right now I’m working on a Sci Fi romance where I completely made up one of the character’s names. I’ve never seen it before and I simply strunge some letters together based on the sounds in my head. The name is Micyah, and it’s pronounced just like it reads… mic – ya. In fact, I did it twice in that book. The Oracle’s name is Zeekia. Have never seen that name either and I just knew I wanted something extoic. It’s also pronounced just as it looks. Zeek – ea
So there’s my take on the subject. Hopefully readers will be able to pronounce my characters names. And I think if there’s any doubt in the author’s mind, a note on the book’s page would be helpful.
Stay Sexy,
Selena

First, I must congratulate my good friend Dena Celeste on selling her first book, Her Master’s Gift, to Noble Romance Publishing!
And for those of you looking for a quick read (or three)…because I know you’ve already read all my books, may I suggest a friend of mine’s new release, Tales from Mystic Valley? You’ve heard of Moira Rogers before, I’m sure of it. Get three short stories for only $.99. A steal? You bet. Go buy it now! Go on, you know you want it. So do I. See-ya.

Don’t want anyone worrying that I’ve dropped off the face of the planet, and I wouldn’t want my blog to get lonely either.
So here I am. There you are. What’s new?
I’m finishing up a Christmas story, hopefully I’ll have more details on that soon. I’m still working on the Sci Fi, boy, that sucker just keeps getting bigger and bigger, but I reallly like the characters, so I don’t mind.
I have some exciting news about a friend and fellow author, but that’ll have to wait.
Other than that… I’m pondering having my website redone. What say you?

Congrats to my BF and writing buddy Leila Brown who just sold to Loose Id! Bring on the pirates. Argh!

Don’t forget to enter the Summer Sampler contest going on now. Click the link on the left to enter. There are lots of chances to win! Prizes include books, ebooks, a T-shirt and other assorted goodies. Contest ends June 15th, so don’t wait! Enter now!

Not too long ago reader Andrea left me this note:
I started to read Ready and Willing, but the only chapter that showed up when I clicked on the various links was the first chapter. I loved the first chapter and am dying to know what happens next with Kaden and Ava! I tried clicking on chapter 2 and then chapter 3 both in PDF and zipped HTM:, but couldn’t get to any other chapter but 1. If there some way I could read the rest?
I’m happy to report that my webmistress has fixed the problem and all chapters are downloadable again (in html and pdf.) To get access to the free reads page, please sign up to my newsletter (link above) and you’ll get an autoresponder telling you all that super secret info.
Thanks for reporting the problem Andrea! Enjoy the other chapters.

I’m taking back the blog! Just for a while, I promise. I really enjoy reading all the neat posts from my guest authors, but I’m afraid I need to cut in and take over the programming for a bit.
First off, Mated to a Cajun Werewolf will be out Friday June 5th! Woo to the HOO! You can get a copy of your very own at Cobblestone Press.
Second, I’ve teamed up with a bunch of my fellow authors to offer you one very awesome contest with lots of incredible prizes. Books, t-shirts, goodie baskets…oh my, it’s all there. And you can enter now!
If you somehow missed the gorgeous cover art for Mated to a Cajun Werewolf (which is Andre’s book… I know you’ve been waiting for that!) let me show it off again. Shameless, I know.
I’m still working on that new series of lucious, lickable cowboys. Inspiration & eye candy available with this post.
If you’re new to my blog (and/or website), well, welcome. Hope you’ll have a look around, find a book or two to take with you, and be sure to sign up for my newsletter so you can stay abreast of all that’s happening in my world…and those that I create for my characters.
Stay sexy,
Selena
PS. Yes, I have every intention of continuing/finishing Ready & Willing, my free short story available when you sign up for the newsletter.
